Best Practices

for PhysChem determination

using Pion SiriusT3

WEBINAR
ON DEMAND

Pion has provided support to Pion SiriusT3 end-users for many years. We have collected key notes to make sure that users obtain accurate results and to provide expert advice to best design successful analysis learning from the information already provided from previous analysis.

This event will provide the best practices for designing and performing experiments using the Pion SiriusT3, an automated platform for the measurement of physicochemical properties such as ionisation constant (pKa), lipophilicity (logP) and solubility.

In this webinar, we will start by discussing how to ensure good performance of the instrument; exploring the instrument maintenance-tab and calibration. We will review how to perform pKa experiments discussing when spectrometric or potentiometric techniques will be adequate for the determination of the compound pKa. Potentometric logP and solubility (CheqSol) determination will follow, highlighting the different analysis types which can be carried out with each technique. We will finish with basic instrument maintenance pointing out the main instructions for ensuring good health of your instrument and preventing commonly seen issues.

Dr-Rebeca-Ruiz-picture_Pion

Dr Rebeca Ruiz is our Global Analytical Services Manager at Pion. Rebeca’s main work is managing and performing customer sample analysis using Pion instruments, as well as discussing customer projects, supporting end-users, contributing to instrument development and performing posters and webinars based on Pion instruments.

Rebeca obtained her European PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Barcelona in Spain, her thesis and Masters focused mainly on pKa (ionisation constant) analysis studying a diversity of techniques, media and different calculation approaches. However, lipophilicity and solubility also formed part of her doctorate and she has published her work in many internationally recognised scientific journals since then. In 2003, Rebeca spent one year at Pion as part of her doctorate and joined Pion full-time in 2009.

One of Rebeca’s favourite responsibilities is travelling to perform training sessions on Pion SiriusT3, interacting with Pion users helping them to find the best technique or analysis which answers questions they have about their challenging compounds.
